A High-Tech Treasure Hunt

On the evening of November 14, 50 runners took to the dark Vienna streets for 90 minutes wearing numbered reflective Vapor Flash Jackets and a GPS tracking app as the subjects of Nike’s “Catch The Flash” Augmented Reality Game (ARG).

To play, participants had to track the Flash runners online and chase them down in the streets with the goal to snap a picture using a camera flash - which made the Flash runners’ jackets shine to reveal a number printed on the back. The winning trophy went to the participant who captured the most numbers in the fastest amount of time.

The campaign was developed to promote the highly light reflective material of Nike’s Vapor Flash Jackets, making a pretty familiar feature to routine runners seem like a super cool, innovative technology.
