A Kaleidoscopic Retail Experience

New York-based design team, SOFTlab, recently created a retail installation for lingerie line The Lake & Stars at their Tribeca pop-up store. The installation looked at the store-within-a-store trend at a new angle by putting the emphasis on the store window.

Using the most basic element of showcasing merchandise - optics - the installation featured a series of extruded windows placed within the store that amplified the details of the garments on display. The front of the installation was made of faceted cones, wrapped in a soft, matte-black material, which extend out to viewing windows of various sizes. Focused light pushed through the cones to create a vibrant, human scale kaleidoscope when peeking through the window at the garments.
The result - a unique ‘window shopping‘ experience.
