Every year in early December, Miami Beach becomes the focal point of international fine art and design as the host of two major art shows - Art Basel and Design Miami. Collectors and art enthusiasts from around the world gather at Art Basel and Design Miami seeking both established and emerging design for both private and museum collections. This past December, both broke their attendance record, drawing 50,000 and 55,000 respectively to the five-day multi-event fair.
A new generation of thirty-something collectors, eager to explore, learn and buy attributed to the strong attendance. Design Miami also increased their participating galleries by 50%, helping to broaden the audience. And smaller sister shows, like Scope, and evening parties at galleries in Miami’s Design District add to the attraction. With perfect weather, this past December’s fair was a luxury marketers dream.
