GPJ partnered with IBM to scale TechXchange into the company’s premier hands-on learning experience for technologists, doubling attendance in two years and proving IBM’s AI and emerging technologies are ready to build today.
The 2025 event welcomed 8,000 attendees from 82 countries, and delivered over 1,500 technical sessions and labs—cementing TechXchange as IBM’s most ambitious technical learning platform to date.






The Vision: A Conference Built by, and for, Technologists
IBM TechXchange was never meant to mirror a traditional corporate conference. While IBM Think sets the strategic vision for executive audiences, TechXchange is designed for developers, engineers, and practitioners who want to go deep. We partnered with IBM to evolve the event from a niche technical gathering into a large-scale “learning mission,” without sacrificing its community-first, practitioner-led DNA.



The Strategy: From Vision to Practical Adoption
The 2025 experience was built around a single imperative: moving AI from concept to execution. The “GO/” theme: Explore, Build, Launch oriented the entire experience around doing, not just listening.
Rather than prioritizing polished keynotes or broad narratives, TechXchange leaned into a purposeful, DIY mindset. The focus was on technical depth, peer-to-peer exchange, and real-world application—meeting technologists where they work and learn best.
The Experience: Scaling Learning Through The Sandbox
At the center of TechXchange was The Sandbox, a reimagined expo environment where learning, collaboration and play collided.



Integrated Learning on the Expo Floor
Following a deep-dive audit of best-in-class technical events like AWS re:Invent, GPJ embedded instructor-led labs and certification stations directly into the expo—allowing attendees to learn in the natural flow of exploration.
The GO/ Track Journey
Attendees navigated a guided learning path across 11 technical tracks, spanning AI, Data Security, Cloud, and beyond—turning a massive program into a coherent, self-directed journey.



Community-First Design
Curated “Dorm Rooms” became the anchors of each community, giving IBM tech leads and loyalists space to express their identities through approved décor and tabletop games, and enabling authentic, peer-led connection.
Serious Play and Wellness
To balance the intensity of technical learning, we integrated a Wellness Park including full-sized swings, a leveled-up Sandbox Arcade featuring retro console gaming, along with the AI Sports Club featuring custom activations highlighting IBM’s sports partnerships—helping 10,000+ attendees reset, recharge, and stay engaged.
