GPJ is hiring a 3D Experience Designer to join our growing team.
This role is hybrid, requiring you to report on-site to our Boston office location a minimum of 2 days per week.
Your Role
As a 3D Experience Designer, you are a creative who goes beyond mere architecture, focusing instead on crafting human-centered journeys through environments that truly captivate audiences and inspire them to take action. Your passion lies in conceptualizing and designing one-of-a-kind, authentic experiences.
Through an innovative approach to the program experience this role will assist in journey and activation ideation, leading space allocation and floor planning with strategic and practical flow, and visualize the space and experience through sketching, CAD floor plans, bubble diagrams, mood imagery, photo comps and renders.
In this role you will/are:
- An agency leader in new techniques and design applications.
- Lead the environmental creative team in new techniques and set the highest standard for all designers to follow
- Create high quality sketches, renders, mock-ups, and designs
- Collaborate with your co-workers to produce and encourage inventive, thoughtful, on-brand work.
- Excellent at managing time and meeting tight deadlines, while maintaining design excellence
- Participate in planning and strategy sessions
- Comfortable leading the experience design team on assigned projects, overseeing other designers’ work and ensure execution is consistent and of the highest quality
- Work closely Creative Directors to execute on strategic design solutions
- Approach design with thoughtfulness and understanding of how it impacts the larger business, bringing to like multiple concepts and solutions to meet client objectives.
- Lead the agency in collaboration with production and fabrication to solve design and budgetary challenges while maintaining design and brand integrity.
Your Skills
- Mastery of 3DS Max, Adobe Creative Suite and Google Suite
- Passion for learning new software and tracking emerging trends such as AI-based software (City planning, Rhino, Firefly, Gemini, Etc.)
- Works on multiple projects simultaneously and successfully with full accountability, maintaining quality at all times
- Tracks time weekly and flags any misalignment in assigned hours
- Meets deadlines without question or communicates concerns early with a solutions-oriented mindset
- Understands impacts of misuse of hours or misalignment of scope

- Understands brand guidelines and visual identities and knows how to design to those standards and flag when they are misaligned
- Can lead a team or contribute independently, knows when to escalate issues to creative leadership any roadblocks or scope inconsistencies
- Expert understanding of experience and environmental design principles and apply it to the work
- Understanding of the 3D world and what makes up environmental design: textures, materials, architecture, fabrication, rentals, furniture, graphics, styling, decor, props, lighting, etc.
- Strong understanding of flow, floor plans and space allocation for experiences
- Clear understanding of 2D design and its integration into experiences
- Provide direct support in concept design and development
- Understanding of the 3D world and what makes up environmental design: textures, materials, architecture, fabrication, rentals, furniture, graphics, styling, decor, props, lighting, etc.
- Collaboration with Integrated Production, Graphics Production, Live Production and Fabrication
- Strong understanding of how things get built and produced
- Strong understanding of budgets and budgetary limitations
- Strong understanding of materials and standard sizing
- Works with CAD and production to ensure floor plans are accurate and achieve fire marshall approvals
- Excellent design skills and taste
- Knows how to flex into a client-based aesthetic
- Can design to match the level of client expectations

Your Experience
Experience & Education
- 6-8 years’ of creative experience in an agency environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Advertising, Visual Communication or related course of study.
Travel & Mobility
- Ability to travel 10%
- Ability to work irregular hours in addition to normal business hours, to include nights, weekends and holidays as needed
