In addition to our passionate teams, comprehensive list of services, and accumulation of 110+ years of experience, it is our global nature that makes GPJ one of the most respected leaders in the experiential marketing industry. With #GPJourneys, we’re spotlighting a team member who is living this mindset and has had the chance to work from different offices around the country.

This is what it means to be part of OneGPJ: a global team connected by shared values, a love for bold ideas, and a passion for experiences that move people.

COLIN MORRISSEY

Hey there, Colin! Thank you for joining us today. So the readers can get to know you better, why don’t you give us a brief introduction?

Hi! I’m Colin Morrissey, an Associate Producer specializing in digital experiences and permanent installations for our IBM and Google clients. I’ve been with GPJ for almost 7 years now. Outside of work, you can find me at [solidcore], playing beach volleyball, or volunteering in the local community.

Which office did you relocate from, and what do you miss most about it?

What I’ll miss most is the incredible Austin team. I’m leaving with cherished friendships and memories that I’ll never forget, no matter how far I travel.

The bonds we create with our teams are special, that’s for sure. Despite having to say goodbye to Austin, what office did you get to say hello to?

I’m now based in New York City! I was looking for a total change of pace, trading the Texas sun for the New York hustle. Being at the center of global culture and business is an incredible opportunity, and I’m loving the challenge of the big city grind.

The Big Apple, how exciting! What was the transition like, and how has your time in NYC been so far?

Finding an apartment in NYC is definitely a rite of passage! But now that I’m settled, it’s been incredible. I love the energy of navigating the city and the sense of accomplishment that comes with finding my footing in such a fast-paced environment.

That’s great to hear! We love to see our team members thrive. Speaking of our team, how would you say GPJ has supported you with this transition?

Leveraging the GPJ global network has been a great way to advance my career. Moving to NYC gave me the chance to take my experience to a new market and seamlessly transition into my new role on the Google account.

One of our greatest assets is our global footprint, don’t you think? So Colin, what’s been your favorite part about this new location?

I love the dynamic office culture and energy of the NYC office. It is a huge advantage to be in the same building as Project Worldwide and our sister agencies, including Motive, Partners + Napier, Praytell, and Argonaut. I feel like I’m right at the heart of all of the action.

“At the heart of all the action”—we couldn’t have said it better ourselves. Is there anything that’s surprised you about the move?

The level of executive visibility here is something I have really valued. From attending the GPJ Global Town Hall in person with our CEO to joining the leadership team for a workout before our holiday party, the access to the team is incredible. Also, as a Texan, I have found that I actually enjoy the cold weather!

How has this new office influenced your perspective or approach to your work?

I feel reinvigorated by the pace of life in the city. Being physically closer to my core teammates, clients, and agency partners has made collaboration much more fluid. This energy is contagious, and it has pushed me to be even more proactive in how I approach my daily work.

Collaborating in person is the BEST! Is there anything you’ve learned from working with your new teams and clients that really stands out to you?

Working with these teams has really taught me the value of agility. It is all about staying ahead of the curve to deliver the best results for our clients.

As you reflect on your move, both professionally and personally, is there any advice you would give to someone who’s thinking about relocating?

My advice is to be proactive and vocal about your goals and intentions. Don’t hesitate to talk to your manager, HR, and colleagues in other offices that you already collaborate with on projects. Taking the opportunity to support other accounts in-market, like I did with Samsung and Google, is a great way to bridge the gap and learn which opportunities might be the best fit for your career.

It’s been an incredible journey so far, and I’m looking forward to everything else this move to New York has in store for my career!

We’re endlessly inspired by our team members and their unique experiences, and we’re excited that we had the chance to share yours. Thank you for your time, Colin!
