One such vital member of this powerhouse team is Maggie Keller, a Senior Producer based in New York. With an impressive 15-year career in the events industry, Maggie joined GPJ in 2023. Her extensive background, which includes orchestrating award shows and women-in-tech events, makes her uniquely suited to the dynamic world of IP.

“When you are loading-in,” she explained, “you feel excited and anxious to get started…you know that everything has to go almost correctly by the minute…but you’re excited because you’ve planned for so long.”
She notes that no matter how much you plan, some things are truly out of your control. It’s in those moments that adaptability, a solution-oriented outlook, and a calm mind are the most important. When asked what advice she’d give to new team members or incoming Igniters facing the inherent anxieties of onsite work, Maggie responded with a smile.
“I’d tell them you’ve got this. You know more than you think you know. Everything is fixable. If something is going wrong, you’re supported by me and GPJ,” She reassures that no matter the situation, “there’s always a solution.”
Maggie touches on the fact that the unwavering belief in solutions and teamwork is a hallmark of the IP team, ensuring that no obstacle is insurmountable. From contingency planning for unpredictable weather to navigating unexpected on-site issues, an IPer’s ability to adapt and overcome as a team is paramount.
Navigating the Labyrinth
Maggie’s expertise was recently put to the test as the lead producer for a major Samsung activation in New York City. This involved a city-wide product launch over the course of four weeks. The logistical complexities were immense, requiring simultaneous setups in four different plazas during the first week, and managing operations every Wednesday through Saturday.
Maggie described the demanding nature of securing permits in a bustling metropolis like New York. This year, they secured their permit only one day before the activation. In addition to this, the city only offers a rate once they know the level of impact your activation will have on the surrounding community.
“The permitting part was really stressful,” she shared, “but we ended up pulling it off. We just heard back the other day from our permitting team that the city was thrilled with how we handled it.”
This project only exemplifies the IP team’s ability to execute intricate plans under tight deadlines and unpredictable circumstances flawlessly.

“You’re tired, but you’re also really proud of what you’ve just done.”
