GPJ is hiring a Painter to join our growing team.
This role is on-site, requiring you to report to our Las Vegas, NV office location a minimum of 5 days per week.
Your Role
You are the Painter, and your role involves applying finishes using HVLP, airless, and other spray equipment in the fast-paced production environment of the Paint Department. Your primary responsibility is to consistently meet production goals.
You have extensive knowledge of the technical data of all products used in the Paint Department, particularly in terms of application, chemical composition, and hazard recognition. Additionally, you have a strong background in color theory, with a particular focus on creating and matching custom colors.
You possess a deep understanding of the substrates commonly used by our fabrication teams and are well-versed in the preparation methods required to achieve the desired finishes. Proficiency in the application of various filters and primers, ensuring adequate buildup and coverage as specified by prep methods, is a key part of your role. You also have the ability to troubleshoot and address challenges related to spray equipment or materials used during the finishing process.
Quality is a top priority for you, and you work diligently to avoid errors that would necessitate rework due to paint defects. Your goal is to consistently deliver high-quality finishes that meet our standards.
Your Skills
- Must have a thorough knowledge of accepted quality standards and possess the ability to determine whether properties successfully meet them prior to release from the paint department.
- Must be able to perform minor touch ups out in the production floor and in the paint shop, when possible, to avoid complete repaints of properties.
- Must be skilled at wet sanding and buffing with a focus on correcting blemishes on high gloss finishes and achieving a polished look on various substrates.
- Must be able to identify and anticipate defects in the finish by having a working knowledge of the different stages of the finishing process.
