Nissan

Business Challenge

At Auto Shanghai 2021, Nissan aimed to deliver on its commitment to meet the ever-evolving needs of consumers in China who aspire for more efficiency, more technology and enhanced connectivity.

Nissan has a rich history of heritage electric vehicles (EVs), but they weren’t able to send many vehicles and staff due to travel restrictions related to COVID-19. So we had to get creative; something we excel in at GPJ.

GPJ Solution

We developed a concept of displaying heritage vehicles using Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) technologies. LED panels with life-sized AR vehicle displays immersed the visitors in multiple virtual environments of Nissan EV history on the exhibit’s media walls, while a photo booth helped capture the moment. The electrified space featured 70 years of Nissan EV heritage, including the pioneering Tama and past EV concepts. At specific times, attendees interacted with the digital walls, augmenting themselves next to the eye-catching EVs as they cycled through the decades.

As a nod to the company’s roots, the all-new Nissan space embodied a Japanese design aesthetic. The booth used design to highlight popular Nissan vehicles, such as the Altima and Qashqai, which both feature ProPILOT technology.

From the latest in electrification to enhanced mobility just over the horizon, Nissan showcased the full force of the brand’s innovation and electrification.

Results

•  The immersive virtual environment on the media wall boosted social media traffic on social media sites.
